However, denser canopies create microenvironments that could act as perfect habitats for pest reproduction and pathogen spread. Having your Integrated Pest Management (or IPM) dialed in before you plant and selecting a density that is right for your environment can make it easier to scout and to effectively spray into the canopy if there is an outbreak.
